Surrey Heating began as a small independent outfit with a simple promise: be the tradespeople we’d want in our own homes. Most of our first customers were neighbours in KT8 who were tired of two things — national-chain quotes that seemed priced off a different planet, and odd-job numbers that stopped answering once a deposit cleared. We set out to be the third option: proper work, proper parts, a fixed written quote before a tool comes off the van.

Today we install, service and repair boilers across every major brand, design and fit full central heating systems and bathrooms, handle landlord gas safety certificates for single flats and whole portfolios, fit unvented cylinders and heat pumps, and run a 24/7 emergency line for the nights a pipe lets go. The business has grown; the phone is still answered by someone who can actually tell you what’s wrong with your heating.

What “family-run” actually means

You’ll see the phrase on a lot of vans. For us it means three concrete things:

• Plain English, not jargon — we explain what failed, why, and what happens if you leave it. You decide with the facts, not under pressure.
• Quote first, always — written and itemised before work starts. If we find something extra mid-job, you get a photo and a price before we touch it.
• Long-term customers over one-off invoices — we’d rather nurse an old boiler through another winter than sell you a new one you don’t need yet. That’s why people come back.

• Gas Safe registered — every gas appliance touched by a registered engineer, as the law requires. Ask to see the ID card; we like being asked.
• Trained on the leading boiler brands — Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann — and honest about which one suits your house.
• Benchmark-commissioned installations with manufacturer guarantees registered for you, and annual servicing that keeps them valid.
• G3-qualified for unvented cylinders, with building-control notification handled as standard.
• A 24/7 emergency line answered by a person, with the price agreed before the van moves.

Where we’re headed

Heating is changing and so are we. The £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme has put air source heat pumps within reach of thousands of Surrey homes, and we’ve built the surveying habits to match — heat-loss calculations, radiator sizing and honest retrofit advice, because a heat pump in the wrong house helps nobody. On the business side, we’re growing our landlord and letting-agent work: portfolio CP12s, annual servicing sweeps, and priority callouts so tenants are never left cold.
